Install XXDLH8 Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean Official Firmware on Samsung Galaxy S3 I9300

The XXDLH8 update bringing Android 4.1.1 for the S3 I9300 is here. You can't apply the update by flashing a file in recovery mode but installing the update is quite simple and you can install it easily using ODIN. Below we are providing a very detailed description of how to install this update on your S3 I9300. Please know that this is not the official release build of the firmware but actually a leaked version. But it has been tested and found to be working on the Galaxy S3 I9300.

It is highly advised that you do not try to attempt to apply this update on any other phone. If you do try and end up with some damage Dead Or Android cannot do anything to help you. Moving on, you should know that this is not a rooted firmware and you will need to root it separately.

Before you begin if you have any important data on your phone, backup the data. Also make sure to make a back up of the internet package settings so that you do not end up without an active internet connection after the update. (Just a reminder, you do not need an internet connection on your phone to apply the update it was just mentioned as a precaution.)

  • So the first thing you need to do is download the XXDLH8 Android 4.1.1 update file. Once you have that you are ready to proceed to the next step.
  • Next download ODIN v1.85 from the link mentioned.
  • Next enter Download Mode on your phone. If you don't know how, well you can enter Download Mode by Holding Down the Home and Volume Down Buttons and then pressing the Power Button. You will see an Android Image and then confirm that you want to enter into Download Mode.
  • If you have all your Galaxy S3 drivers installed then proceed to plugging in the phone in download mode to your PC. In case you experience any error with the drivers then Download Samsung Galaxy S3 driver(x86) or from here(x64).
  • Now open ODIN and then plug in your phone. If everything goes well then you should see one of the ID:COM boxes turn yellow. If it does not turn yellow immediately be patient.
  • Next click on PDA and select the .tar file you downloaded in the first step. Now just click start and wait for the process to finish.
That's it. Now you have successfully installed XXDLH8 update on your Samsung Galaxy S3 I9300. If you have any doubts in the installation or encounter any errors comment below.
