Update to T999VYVLALH2 Android 4.0.4 ICS Stock Firmware on Canadian Samsung Galaxy S3 SGH-T999V

The firmware that I am explaining how to install below is a stock firmware. If you had root access previously on your phone you will loose it after the updating process. Of course you can root this firmware too. The Samsung Flagship model has recently gotten the much awaited update in many countries recently. Here is how you can install the update on your device in case you haven't already. Please note that this is not a custom ROM, but a stock firmware.

The below installation is done through ODIN but you can also apply the update through KIES.(That process is not being mentioned) Besides, the update is easier through ODIN. Even though this is a stock firmware it does come with the slim chance that you might end up bricking your device. This firmware has obviously been tested extensively before its release but the chance is still there.

Please note that the update can result in loss of data that may be important from your device. So be sure to back up all important information on your device before continuing with the process. Also back up your data connection Settings as you may loose the existing configurations after the update. You do not need any active internet connection on your device for the update but the precaution is just so that you do not wind up without internet access after applying the update.

Without further delay let us get into the installation of the update on your device.

  • First download T999VYVLALH2 firmware update from the link mentioned.
  • You will also need to check whether your drivers are all installed and up to date. In case you are not sure Download the USB Drivers from the link mentioned. Once you have those things ready make sure your phone is having a good amount of charge. One of the worst things that can happen and can really freak you out is the battery dying during the installation. So make sure you have around 90% of charge remaining just to be safe.
  • Download ODIN on your PC. After you download both the files switch off your device and reboot into Download Mode. Don't Know How? Just boot by holding the Power, Volume Down and Home Buttons simultaneously. After confirming entry into download mode Run ODIN on your PC and plug in your S3. One of the boxes in ODIN should turn yellow. Next just click on PDA and select the file you downloaded earlier. Now click start and wait for the process to finish.
That's it. Now you have successfully applied the update on your device. If you have any doubts or encounter any errors please comment below.
