How To Root Samsung Galaxy Chat GT-B5330

The Samsung Galaxy Chat was released recently released. Even though it has Android Ice Cream Sandwich by default, development on it has been slow. Devices like the Galaxy Chat which is a hybrid of the old QWERTY keypad containing device and a touchscreen are kind of unpopular which is the main reason why development is slow. But don't be mistaken this phone does have all the abilities of any other Android device. The beginning of customization on an Android Device is to root it so as to install ROMs and SuperUser. The Galaxy Chat GT-B5330 has a decent 850 MHz processor but the screen quality is not similar to most other medium and low end devices. The Galaxy Chat has been rooted by XDA Recognized Developer Zackconsole and below I will be explaining how you can root your device.

We are not responsible for the damage caused to your phone by trying out this, so proceed at your own risk. Some users have posted some errors, so please visit the official thread if you have any problem with the installation.
Requirements

  • Galaxy Chat GT-B5330. Don't try to install it on any other device even if it is quite similar. 
  • USB Drivers for your Phone. Download Kies if you don't have them.
  • Atleast 80% charge.
  • Patience :)



How To Root Samsung Galaxy Chat GT-B5330

  • Go to phone settings and enable USB debugging mode and mount the SD card.
  • Copy this file to the root of SD card and not into any folders. 
  • Switch off the phone and reboot into recovery mode by pressing Vol down+ Home + power
  • Use volume buttons to navigate and then select "update zip from SD card" and then select the file you downloaded and copied to the sd card using the home button.
  • After installation, reboot the phone and use root checker app to know if your phone is rooted or not!

    My B5330 is entering the Odin Mode and nothing happens. What can I do?

      Switch off the phone and reboot into recovery mode by pressing Vol down+ Home + power
      It's wrong. You should press power and after Samsung screen press the home button. Then choose apply from external... But the update file isnt'working, it says E:signature failure or something like that.

      Choice "apply update from exter"

    Hi,
    My phone was blocked and we didn't have the password (2 year old son played with it). I have managhed to reset to factory settings using your trick and loading adroid software through ODIN. The problem I now have is that my phone is in QWERTYmode but I have an AZERTY phone. Do you know where I can get the android software for a Samsung GT-B5330 azerty?

    this is the wrong procedure. Gone are the days when Samsung allowed unsigned update.zip files to be flashed. you have to patch the firmware to root galaxy ch@t. Ayush Chand please double check your info before posting articles. Be a responsible blogger.
